Attendance to Newborns at Delivery

Attendance to Newborns at Delivery

Dr Khan can be present during and after the birth of your baby to do a comprehensive check of your baby’s health. The assessment of your newborn at delivery (cesarean or natural) will consist of a comprehensive physical exam. This includes checking the vital signs such as heart rate, temperature, skin colour, and birth parameters (weight, length and head circumference).

While some babies enter the world with relative ease, others might find the transition into the world a bit more difficult. These babies may need a little more help to stay healthy. Dr Khan's goal is to ensure that your baby is healthy after birth, and he will provide emergency resuscitation if necessary.

All caesarean section deliveries require a paediatrician to be present at birth; and you are welcome to request that Dr Khan attends to your baby at the delivery. Be sure to discuss this with your gynaecologist and the maternity staff when you arrive at the hospital. For those who deliver naturally, Dr Khan will assess your baby shortly after delivery. He will ensure the wellbeing of your newborn for the duration of your baby’s hospital stay. After you are discharged from the hospital, you will receive a follow-up plan for your baby. The plan will ensure your baby is healthy, feeding well and achieving appropriate milestones in the first year of their life.

As your child’s paediatrician, Dr Khan is there to assist you and your baby to adjust to life after birth. You are welcome to pop in for an antenatal visit before your delivery to discuss all your questions and queries for feeding and taking care of the newborn.
