General Paediatrics
Dr Rafiq Khan has an established paediatric medical practice with more than 12 years of experience in dealing with all types of paediatric problems, from birth right up to late adolescent care till age 18.
As a paediatrician, Dr Khan has the knowledge and skills to manage a wide range of health problems and concerns in children. These general paediatric services range from basic care and advice, to the diagnosis, investigation, treatment and management of chronic illnesses and injuries.

Addressing common issues in infancy: Dr Khan addresses concerns such as poor weight gain and failure to thrive (FTT). He also diagnoses and treats problems with feeding, bowel movements, sleep patterns and skin problems. These concerns are addressed at every visit, and Dr Khan will offer the best advice and treatment available. Dr Khan will discuss all your questions and queries about the care and feeding of your newborn.
Dermatological issues: We provide diagnosis and treatments for eczema, skin infections, and newborn skin conditions, including acne, nappy rash, other rashes and cradle cap (patchy and dry skin on the scalp).
Respiratory conditions and infections: We treat various respiratory conditions, such as tonsillitis, pneumonia, bronchitis, asthma, allergic rhinitis, and croup.
Emergency care - We are available within the Melomed hospital in Gatesville environment to operate for any life-threatening medical emergencies requiring urgent resuscitation, stabilisation and initiation of any critical care required. We also offer Intensive care for premature and low birth weight newborns. We also offer emergency consults with children suffering from a high fever, vomiting, diarrhoea, acute pain, abdominal pain, headaches, difficulty breathing, seizures, severe restlessness and traumatic injury.
Learning difficulties: We provide special attention to children who have learning difficulties as manifestations of underlying conditions such as Attention Deficit Disorder with or without Hyperactivity, Epilepsy or any other undiagnosed medical disorder.
Other disorders: The early detection of gastroenterological, cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, nephrological or neurological issues. Dr Khan will also refer you to other specialists, if necessary, in order to deliver optimal care.
